Education for Sustainable Development

The increasing stress we put on resources and environmental systems such as water, land and air cannot go on forever. A widely-used and accepted international definition of sustainable development is: 'development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs'

The application of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) can be complex within an educational institution. The integration of environmental, social and economic features into the curriculum poses many challenges.

We can offer support to educational institutions around the world in helping them develop their ability to teach and research Sustainable Development

As Cardonald College takes the objectives of the UN Decade for Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) seriously, we operate our college in an environmentally sustainable manner.

By implementing sustainable development principles we have learned many lessons and developed expertise in the educational application of sustainable development.

For this reason we welcome enquiries from education professionals who wish to benefit from our experience.
